This image is composed of approximately 3000 used postage stamps. Loosely based on Gauguin’s ‘Primitivist’ style of painting and intense colour, the Tahitian beach scenes became very popular towards the end of Gauguin’s life. Although he died of neglect, poverty and sickness he opened a way to a different form of ‘seeing’ of impressionism towards abstraction.
