ONE BY ONE GREAT DROPS ARE FALLING
SUMMER RAIN
Inspired by these lines of poetry...
Suddenly all the sky is hid
As with the shutting of a lid,
One by one great drops are falling
Doubtful and slow,
Down the pane they are crookedly crawling,
And the wind breathes low;
Slowly the circles widen on the river,
Widen and mingle, one and all;
Here and there the slenderer flowers shiver,
Struck by an icy rain-drop's fall.

After the glorious summer of ‘18 - the heat gives way to intense summer rain over the meadows and vibrant landscape. This painting is textured and splattered to express the welcome rain drops and movement of the storm.
Painted onto textured board in oil paint, signed by Sarah Gill. Overall dimension including the hand-painted aqua vintage broad wooden frame frame measures 12.5x 12.5inches. Actual artwork within the frame measures 7.5x 7.5 inches.
