Born Again
May Blossom in the Peak District
Inspired by the hazy blue, glorious May time sunshine that began our immense summer. The Peak District - my home - has never looked so beautiful. The headrows were garlanded with the white May blossom . The meadows buzzing and blooming with sweet flowers. The landscape selvedged with the limestone drystone walls.
Painted on textured board with oil paint- signed by Sarah Gill. Presented in a broad cream vintage wooded frame .
Overall dimension including the vintage frame measures 12 x 12 inches. The actual artwork within the frame measure 7.5 x 7.5 inches .
"The trees are coming into leaf
Like something almost being said;
The recent buds relax and spread,
Their greenness is a kind of grief.

Is it that they are born again
And we grow old? No, they die too,
Their yearly trick of looking new
Is written down in rings of grain.

Yet still the unresting castles thresh
In fullgrown thickness every May.
Last year is dead, they seem to say,
Begin afresh, afresh, afresh."
- Philip Larkin, The Trees
