Description
“Lost In Time” is inspired by Stephen’s love of the old musical films. This is a scene taken from the film My Fair Lady starring Audrey Hepburn released in 1965. She’s playing the character “Eliza Doolittle” a poor girl trying to earn a living selling flowers.
This is the scene where she’s caught up in a storm loosing her flowers in the wind and rain, only the artist, Stephen Maddocks, has added an unusual twist within the composition.
The abstract modern day background suggests she’s moved on in time another 60 years to our present day, yet she’s still wearing the same outfit she was wearing 60 years ago taken from the scene in the film.
All alone in this composition , she’s wondering where she is and what has suddenly happened to her. Where has everyone gone, and why have the buildings changed so much?
The expression on her face say’s it all. Surprised, confused and bewildered she makes a desperate attempt to grasp hold of her last few flowers, the only things she recognises, before they too become “Lost In Time” adding another distant memory to her past.
Poor Liza!
