Those eyes. That face. Those wonderful puppy wrinkles.

This young Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) has his whole life ahead of him, and you can see the gentle curiosity and trust in his gaze. I painted this portrait as a showcase of the kind of commissions I offer, but it quickly became a piece with a life of its own — he has a way of looking right at you and straight into your heart.

If you’ve ever known the joy of bringing home a puppy, you’ll know this moment — when their paws are too big for their body and their expressions are full of hope, mischief and love. It’s a fleeting stage that disappears too fast, and that’s what I wanted to capture here.
