Summertime on the Wye 2 Oil

In this painting I wanted to evoke the feeling of colour,warmth and vibrancy of nature in an abstract way .I adopted a technique used by Gerhard Richter to apply paint with a squeegy and palette knife in multi layers ,whilst scraping back to reveal earlier layers .Using the squeegy means that paint is deposited in some areas ,lifted off and placed in other areas so that colours are juxtaposed in an almost random and accidental way .Shapes and forms also appear spontaneously. I enjoy the energy and freedom painting in this way .
