The chippy is open and glowing, light spilling out onto the damp pavement. Queues forming, a cat in the window, neighbours out for their evening stroll with prams and dogs, and the mills smoking away against a pink northern sky. A little slice of everyday magic.

This is a whimsical northern townscape in my signature wonky, storybook style - full of character, colour and quiet humour. For anyone who remembers the walk to the chippy on a rainy night.
