Family life Acrylic

This idea of this painting was clear but it took a while to feel that I have put on the canvas the complexity of family life, as I see it. All relationships need continual effort from both sides to remain strong and nurturing, but when children arrive, everything turns upside down. Finances, emotions, dynamics, responsibilities – everything shifts into new levels and uncharted territories. This is what the chopped and cut colours represent. But for me, a family is the unity of several individuals who want to be together – and that’s the purpose of the white colour of the figures, and the swirling textures of the bodies.
