She: Before The Flame Oil

Part of my ongoing SHE series.
This work captures a moment suspended between power and undoing. A feminine profile emerges from gilded tendrils — not solid, but forming and dissolving at once.

Inspired by She by H. Rider Haggard, this piece reflects on the charged stillness that precedes transformation.

Earth-warmed ochres and weathered gold evoke ancient walls and fading frescoes, as though she has lived for centuries within stone and dust. Gold hi-lights of leaf and paint glimmer through the composition like remnants of memory and myth, suggesting a power that cannot entirely vanish.

Interior Notes
The soft, atmospheric palette allows it to harmonise beautifully with natural materials — linen, raw wood, stone, plaster, and brushed brass — while the intricate botanical movement adds refinement and depth.
