Description
I painted this vibrant tropical composition to immerse the viewer in the exuberance and complexity of the rainforest, where every leaf, flower, and living creature competes for light, colour, and attention. At the heart of the painting, a striking Blue Clipper butterfly rests delicately upon the sculptural crimson bracts of a Heliconia, offering a fleeting moment of stillness within a richly layered botanical world. I explored the powerful dialogue between complementary reds and greens, balancing hot and cool colours, organic curves with architectural forms, and fragile wings against the bold, waxy strength of tropical foliage. The composition unfolds through spiralling lines, overlapping leaves, and an exaggerated perspective that draws the eye ever deeper into the jungle, revealing new shapes, rhythms, and hidden passages with every glance. All of these elements emanate from a concealed quarter-circle in the upper left of the painting, subtly disguised within intricate patterns, creating a dynamic sense of growth, movement, and harmony that celebrates the extraordinary abundance of nature.
The sides are painted white and the work can be hung unframed with picture hanging fittings in place. The size is 20 x 16 x 0.5 inches, painted using professional oil paints. A Certificate of Authenticity signed by myself accompanies each original. The painting is dated and signed on the front lower right corner. Carefully packed and dispatched promptly.
