ROTHKO BIG COUNTRY FIRE Watercolours

An original watercolour picture in landscape format, on Frisk NOT paper 140lbs.
In spired by an abstract work done by Mark Rothko in 1967 called Untitled, it had a feel
of a sunrise in the outback. I set out with a bright orange sky with a solid black line as the horizon. It was going to be an abstract, but on putting the solid straight black line on top of lower part of the orange, which had not dried sufficently, red & orange colours came through and created the effect of flames and burning bushland.
From abstract to a realistic landscape within a few minutes! A bold rising white sun was added to give the image atmosphere.
It is framed and mounted and ready to hang.
