Description
"Sunray Gold" is inspired by a beautiful forest near my studio in the Peak District—a place that radiates tranquillity and gentle optimism. The painting features a rich palette of amber, copper, pink, and gold, evoking the serene light that filters through delicate leaves.
Using a palette knife, I’ve built up expressive textures in the foreground, creating an abstract impression that complements the natural scene. This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, painted with high-quality acrylics on a deep-edged canvas.
The creative process begins with time spent in the landscape, observing, sketching, and photographing to capture the essence of the place. In the studio, I work intuitively, starting with brush-applied base layers before building up depth and movement through impasto palette knife techniques. My approach draws on optical mixing techniques used by the Impressionists, along with traditional methods such as scumbling and glazing.
The painting extends around the edges of the canvas and is ready to hang.
