Two Swings Oil

This oil painting is the culmination of a long-held desire: to capture the spirit of an intimate corner of my own home—an everyday setting where time seems to stand still.

Inspired by the Impressionist tradition, the painting prioritizes the vibration of light and the spontaneity of the brushstroke over anatomical precision in the surroundings. Thanks to the richness and texture of oil paint, the interplay of light and shadow comes to life: sunlight filters through the dense foliage to caress the earth, the stacked wood, and the old wall, creating a soft, vibrant atmosphere.

At the heart of this leafy sanctuary, two swings sit motionless. Their silent presence acts like a suspended musical note, instantly evoking the poetic, minimalist world of Erik Satie. Much like his *Gymnopédies* or *Gnossiennes*, these empty swings exude a gentle melancholy—a happy nostalgia rooted in childhood memories and the quiet passage of time.

Working on this subject in oils allowed me to layer textures, effectively capturing the density of the foliage and the subtlety of the cast shadows. It is an invitation to pause for a moment, breathe in the garden's tranquility, and let the place's silent music resonate.
