Description
The Canary Islands are ports of call on major voyages of yachts sailing down from Europe to spend the winter months in their pleasant climate. And they are a jumping-off point for yachts and ocean rowboats crossing the Atlantic to the Caribbean, ever since Columbus started the fashion over 500 years ago.
In the Trade Winds season, the islands get filled with vessels, preparing for their Atlantic crossing.
San Sebastian de La Gomera, is one of the main departure ports on a westbound transatlantic passage.
