Description

A limited pallet has been used for this acrylic portrait of Isa Benzie (1902-1988). She entered the BBC in 1927 as a secretary and went on to play a key role in the launch of the radio 4 Today programmme at a time when the BBC was heavily dominated by men. Her importance was such that her portrait (by Ronald Dunlop) is included in “100 objects that made the BBC”.

The canvas sides have been left white and the artwork is corded and ready to hang.
