Rodney is overwhelmed, his portrait awash with restless brushwork and layered textures that evoke dreams and visions spilling over. Blues, pinks and darker tones swirl in overpainting, while a single word - 'dreams' - scatters down from the top of the canvas.

Compact passages of colour reinforce his form, yet it feels as though he is dissolving back into the canvas. Edges are left unpainted, the process exposed and open. Rodney is a portrait of entrapment — a mind trying to escape its own intensity.
