Sunflower Days Acrylic

“Sunflower Days” was inspired by the simple joy and radiance found in a vase of sunflowers glowing in warm daylight. In creating this uplifting piece, I brought together bold expressionist energy with soft impressionistic touches, allowing my creative process to unfold through intuitive, imaginative development on the canvas. Golden light spills across lush petals and polished ceramic, casting gentle, dappled shadows that enhance the sunflowers’ vibrant presence.
I have used tones of gold, amber, soft pinks, greens, and touches of rich ochre to evoke feelings of warmth, optimism, and summer’s gentle abundance. Subtle shifts in colour and delicately layered brushwork create a sense of depth, inviting the viewer to step closer and experience the intimate stillness of flowers suspended in a quiet moment of time. It is a dreamy floral escape, sunflowers dancing with light, an invitation to pause, breathe, and bask in nature’s simple brilliance.
This one-of-a-kind original artwork was created with high-quality acrylic paints on a thin-edged canvas. My process begins with observing the arrangement, noting the interplay of light, form, and colour through sketches and reference photographs. From these beginnings, I work intuitively: laying down initial washes with a brush before building rich impasto layers with a palette knife. I harness optical colour-mixing techniques inspired by the Impressionists, along with methods of the old masters such as scumbling and glazing. I continue refining the piece until it reaches a natural, harmonious conclusion.
The result is a contemporary painting that rests gently between abstraction and realism. The artwork continues seamlessly around the edges and is supplied in a box frame, ready to hang, bringing the warm, uplifting energy of Sunflower Days into any space.
