Description
In this painting, I have captured the essence of nature inspired by the work of Monet and his beautiful water lilies paintings. Using expressive strokes in the style of impressionism, I blend colours to evoke the sense of a smooth blue green lily pond, with delicate reflections of the sky and surrounding foliage. This artwork mirrors the visual journey of gazing upon still waters where a gentle breeze ripples the light filtering through a canopy of leaves overhead. This peaceful painting will brighten and enriche any space, bringing with it a tranquil and refreshing aura.
An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush and then expressive techniques layer on layer applied with a palette knife. Harnessing optical mixing techniques employed by the impressionists. I continue working until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The painting continues round the sides, a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang.
