Description
The elegant height, intricate markings and endearing awkwardness of the giraffe have always fascinated me. Despite being the world's tallest land mammal, this gentle giant must adopt an almost impossible stance to reach the water's edge, making such a simple act appear both graceful and vulnerable. Sadly, with giraffe populations having declined significantly in recent decades, these remarkable animals have become an increasingly precious symbol of Africa's wild heritage.
I painted this artwork with a light, fresh palette, allowing the transparent watercolours to capture the warmth of the African landscape while preserving the giraffe's striking patterns and gentle character. I wanted the scene to convey a quiet moment of calm, where strength and vulnerability exist in perfect harmony.
