Cottage Garden Lupins Watercolours

I painted this joyful botanical study to celebrate the uplifting beauty of lupins in full summer bloom. I wanted the flowers to appear as though they were bathed in soft morning light, their elegant spires rising gracefully above a lively tapestry of distinctive foliage. By allowing transparent washes of watercolour to flow freely into one another, I captured the delicate interplay of lilac, blush pink, coral, lavender, and warm apricot, while touches of vibrant artist's ink bring freshness, movement, and sparkle to the composition. The generous white space surrounding the flowers gives them room to breathe, creating a contemporary feel that draws the eye to their natural elegance and vibrant colour, evoking the simple pleasure of wandering through a flourishing cottage garden.
