Acrylic and thread on canvas. In this work, my cat Lotte occupies the canvas with the absolute authority of a creature who has never once doubted her right to be exactly as she is. We spend a lifetime navigating the expectations of audiences, roles, and rooms, and in her company I am reminded that this negotiation is entirely optional. This is a painting about sovereignty in its purest form, the kind that requires no argument and makes no apology, and asks what it might mean for the rest of us to finally live the same way.
