My son went on a holiday to Venice with a friend, and returned with a lot of interesting photographs, some of which he took whilst on a gondola ride. I loved the reference photograph for this painting, with all the variations in colour in the reflections in the water. I thought it was a charming scene from an interesting vantage point, and really wanted to paint it, so here it is...
