Description
A view of the Bakerloo line at Paddington station, opened in 1913 as part of what was then the Baker Street & Waterloo Railway. This oil painting is part of a series of works celebrating the distinctive engineering and atmosphere of the London Underground. By careful selection of perspectives and viewpoints (and by removing almost all of the people), Rebecca is able to take ordinary scenes and reveal their underlying beauty and style, which can so often go unnoticed.
In these works Rebecca often re-purposes the stations' advertising posters: in this case, to honour a certain bear and his favourite food!
