Artistic background

My name is Jay Wong(williams) . I have Illustration Art in BA of Academy of Fine Arts and Fashion Management in MA of University of Southampton.

For the past fifteen years I worked as a graphic designer for Ogilvy , an illustrator both in fashion industry and press.

As a person who who has been influenced by art since childhood.
I love religious art illustration and stained glass of church , as they have a history. Each one provides a unique piece of history that is preserved and displayed.

Through the light, the colorful light spots are refracted, which always gives me a sense of beauty beyond time and space, and soothes the soul.
It always fires my imagination.

So I tried to apply this feeling to my illustration creation, and found a medium that can also produce luster through the refraction of light—silk embroidery.

Although it takes a long time to create with silk thread compared to painting, and it takes about 300 hours or even longer for a 90*70cm work, I will become more focused and calm during the creation process, just like entering A state of meditation. After completing the first embroidery illustration, I got mission as an artist, which is to make more people feel calm and happy through my own works.

I used to feel that the relationship between people was too indifferent, but in fact I used to treat the people around me in the same indifferent way. There is a theory in Buddhism: the environment is born from the heart, which means that the world you feel and see is actually the image refracted in your heart.

In such a rapidly evolving and volatile environment, May you find a moment of peace through my works.
