Thomas was born in Oslo, Norway and he grew up living in Sandvika by the southern coast before coming to the UK in 1985. For many years he lived in Devon before settling with his family in Cornwall. He has always felt fortunate to live near the sea, and it has inspired him to explore and create.'For me, abstract painting is the form of artistic expression that gives the greatest freedom and inpiration.' - Thomas Hjelm
