Artistic background

I grew up in Russia and graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute as a printing technology engineer. My fascination with illustrated parchment and paper manuscripts led me to join the Restoration Department of the Imperial Public Library in St. Petersburg. Later, I studied computer animation at the International Academy of Design in Toronto and worked as a 3D animation artist for Millfilm in London—contributing to productions such as Gladiator and Babe2: Pig in the City—as well as for a Cambridge-based computer game company. After years immersed in digital imagery, I returned to the practice of traditional painting.

Since settling permanently in Cambridge, I have been a member of the Cambridge Drawing Society, exhibiting regularly since 2002. My traditional works include still-life, landscape, skyscape, seascape, and studies of water reflections, in oil, acrylic, and watercolour.
Inspiration for my art comes from the world around me—the intricate forms, textures, and colors found in both nature and human creation. I seek to capture harmony in the way small objects echo larger structures, translating my impressions of the world through paint.
