Artistic background

I am a representational artist who works in oil paint, my subjects include landscapes, still life and figurative work. I usually paint directly from life but occasionally using my own reference photos as inspiration. I paint in a traditional, mainly Alla Prima style, working wet into wet paint. I love bold colour and painterly brushwork, and enjoy using limited palettes. I only sell original, one of a kind artwork, and I currently don't take commissions. I'm mainly self taught, supported by a couple of artist mentors over the years including attending various workshops. I've studied classical drawing and traditional oil painting methods, and honed my skill by painting directly from life. I am fascinated by the way light falls across a form, and this observation of the world around me is usually how a painting idea starts.
