Martin Hyde
SidburyArtistic background
Entirely self-taught, he began with watercolour landscapes before transitioning to soft pastels and pastel pencils. This allowed him to explore his deep fascination with wildlife—particularly big cats such as leopards, lions, cheetahs, and tigers—capturing their spirit and detail with remarkable precision, as well as UK wildlifeNow living in Sidbury, East Devon he exhibited in 2024 for the first time with the Sidmouth Society of Artists at Kennaway House in Sidmouth. Out of nearly 300 pieces, his work earned 2nd place in the People’s Vote, marking a significant milestone in his artistic journey and won the same accolade the following year. Martin has previously been represented by local galleries but now offers his art online only.

"I take hours planning a new piece and then even more hours painting up to 60 hours on some larger works but through the process I paint from the heart, all my work is filled with passion to bring the presence and soul of each animal to life"Interests
I am an avid single figure handicap golfer and always enjoy the social environment that golf brings. I still have a real passion for rallying as I competed in many rallies in the UK, Ireland, France & Belgium in the 1980's with some success as a winner of the EARS/Motoring News Championship in 1986Accepts Commissions?
