My paintings often start with vivid dreams. I wake up with an image in my mind that lingers until I have painted it. Sometimes a dream shows me I am at a turning point in my life.
My latest turning point has been the discovery of stone-carving, a process that does not grow out of dreams. Often I have no idea what I am making when I start to chisel the stone, and it's only after days or weeks of working on it that I begin to see what is taking shape under my hands. That's a lovely moment! And I get very excited and start to work faster!

I exhibit most years at exhibitions of the Cambridge Drawing Society, of which I am a member, and occasionally at other local venues, including Open Studios in 2012 and 2014.
