The Show Must Go Owl Acrylic

The Show Must Go Owl is part of my Icons Reimagined collection, a series that celebrates legendary cultural icons through expressive animal portraiture.
Inspired by the unmistakable stage presence of Freddie Mercury, this original painting combines the commanding gaze of an owl with the singer's iconic yellow military jacket and microphone. Rather than creating a literal portrait, the work captures Freddie's confidence, charisma and theatrical energy through bold colour, expressive brushwork and rich texture.

Painted in acrylic on 300gsm watercolour paper, the artwork balances detailed features with loose, contemporary mark-making, creating a piece that is both playful and sophisticated. Layers of warm ochres, vibrant yellows, deep reds and expressive splashes evoke the excitement of a live performance while allowing the owl's striking amber eyes to remain the focal point.

This original painting is presented in a white conservation mount and is ready for framing.
