Description
An evocative semi-abstract oil painting inspired by the historic Tayport Pile, or Larik Beacon, standing quietly in the waters of the Firth of Tay on Scotland’s east coast.
Set against the shifting light and expansive atmosphere of the estuary, the solitary beacon becomes both a landmark and a reminder of another time. Established in 1848, its lantern once guided vessels through the waters between Tayport, Dundee and Broughty Ferry, remaining in service for more than a century before being discontinued in the 1960s.
Through expressive colour, texture and simplified forms, the painting seeks to capture not only the distinctive character of the beacon, but the mood of the Firth itself — its open skies, changing waters and enduring sense of place. Painting is framed and ready to hang.
