Fish & Squid Pastels

For me, intuitive and spiritual art are the heads and tails of the same coin, they complement each other and combine when I create my paintings. The intuitive part is when I lay down the background wash (sometimes homemade gall ink), it is at this stage I can see the potentials. The spiritual phase takes place the following day when the paper is dry and flat enough to receive the oil pastels.

I have little or no control over what I paint, and I am not sure I’m even permitted to choose the colours; my creative guide just takes over and delivers a piece that always delights and sometimes confounds me. The image doesn’t always reveal itself on completion though, and it can take a few days to settle as they seem to be in an ongoing state of development, and it is for this reason, I refer to my creations as Spiritual Polaroids.

There is always something new to discover, something deeper, so I have uploaded rotational views of the canvas for your comfort. However, given the spontaneous nature of my work, it would be impossible to accept commissions.

All paintings offered for sale come unframed and unfixed, and please bear in mind, colours can vary slightly depending on your PC’s monitor.
