Description
This is a portrait of a man with a hard life. It was painted way back in 1979. It has been on my walls ever since and has not been for sale or exhibited until now.
The man was leaning against some iron railings in Paris. I put him in front of a brick wall painted with a green field and blue sky, which was really a miserable day, as can be seen from the grey sky looming behind the wall. He has dirty hands and his clothes are old. He is happy with a bottle of wine as he scowls at the world going by.
