Description
Original Painting: Charlie Chaplin – City Lights
Unframed size: 28cm x 38cm
Description
An atmospheric original monochrome painting of Charlie Chaplin as his much loved Little Tramp character, inspired by the classic film City Lights.
Seated against a weathered stone wall, Chaplin’s instantly recognisable bowler hat, dark suit, cane and distinctive expression capture the quiet and reflective side of one of cinema’s most enduring characters. The strong contrast between light and shadow brings out the character and texture of the scene, while the carefully painted stonework creates a wonderfully timeless, almost photographic quality.
The original painting is darker and more dramatic than the photograph shown here suggests. The deeper tones give the artwork a moodier atmosphere and help emphasise Chaplin’s figure against the stone background, while the touches of lighter paint draw attention to his face, hands and the small flower he holds.
Painted in monochrome watercolour and gouache, this original artwork is a tribute to Charlie Chaplin and the visual language of the silent film era, capturing the charm, loneliness and unmistakable character of the Little Tramp.
Thank you for viewing my painting.
