Bjork Blue Bicture Drawing

This is my Blue Ballpen drawing of one of my musical heroes, vocalist and songwriter Bjork. My Blue Ballpen pieces - which I call ‘Bictures’ - explore differing rendering processes, challenging when working only with a Bic blue pen. I draw these with the paper ‘canvas’ on the floor in front of me. I lean over and gently apply tiny circles with the pen resting on my fingers, at various angles. This allows me to create amazing skin and flesh tones. These works are labour intensive but require the gentlest of touches, often taking over 50 hours to produce. Bjork‘s vocal style and song creation was unlike anything I had heard before, and I hope my ‘Bictures’ are similarly original. I hope I have represented the texture of both her hair and skin in a truly innovative way, ensuring her personality and individuality shine through.
