Description

The Unspoken Words on Drugs was born out of silence—of things felt but rarely said. This painting is my response to the quiet devastation I’ve witnessed around addiction, stigma, and mental health. I chose acrylic for its immediacy and fluidity, letting the medium echo the unpredictability and emotional weight of the subject.

Through abstract forms, layered textures, and disrupted lines, I explore what it means to carry pain that language cannot hold. The colors are deliberate—oscillating between chaos and calm, confusion and control—much like the internal conflict of those battling substance use.

This work is not a condemnation. It is a call for empathy, for listening beyond judgment, for seeing the human within the struggle. It is an attempt to paint what words often fail to express.
The Unspoken Words on Drugs is a visceral visual meditation on addiction and societal silence. In this acrylic-on-canvas work, I channel abstraction and expressionism to reveal the emotional terrain of drug dependency—marked not just by crisis, but by isolation, misunderstanding, and resilience.

The painting resists narrative resolution. Instead, it invites viewers to confront discomfort, to acknowledge the stories that go unheard behind every statistic or stereotype. Brushstrokes clash and blur like interrupted thoughts. Figures may emerge—or dissolve—depending on the viewer’s gaze, reflecting the instability of perception when it comes to addiction and recovery.
The Unspoken Words on Drugs challenges us not only to see, but to stay—long enough to feel what often remains unspoken.
