Description
In this self-portrait, a face looks out from darkness, and the eyes are covered by an array of flowers. Orpheus looked back and lost everything, but here the flowers ask us to explore the self when we finally learn not to turn around. This is a painting about the grief we learn to wear as beauty, and how, sometimes, the past is no longer useful.
