Description
Since the beginning of time artists are using allegory and symbolism to convey messages through their art-works. In my series "Dancing With Birds" I found it interesting to use the symbolic meaning of different birds, which has developed over the centuries of the existence of ancient civilizations. It gives an additional enriched meaning to the subjects of the paintings, inner meaning. I am sure those were birds, the only dancing creatures of Nature, who once taught the Man dance lessons, "body language", so the unification of ballet dancers and birds is very organic for me.
The Magpie is the source of much myth and legend, but I have focused just on a couple of aspects, which are responding to my vision of this bird most.
They are sociable birds and are often seen 'chattering' noisily in small groups. In Slavonic countries the magpie symbolises a chatterbox and is associated with rumours.
The "Breakthrough" symbolises getting out of the circle of rumours and gossip, out of "vanity fair" with its doubtful shining glamour, to live life according to your own real values, no-matter-what-they-say; it is an allegory of dignity, standing up for oneself, freedom and self-respect.
