Description
There’s something wonderfully cheerful about a small harbour on a bright coastal day — boats resting against the harbour wall, gulls drifting overhead, colourful cottages tucked along the shoreline and the lighthouse standing watch across the water.
Isla's Harbour is an original watercolour celebrating those simple seaside moments. I wanted to capture the character of a working coastal harbour rather than simply paint a view: the weathered stone walls, the little blue fishing boat, the colourful buildings and, of course, the ever-present gulls.
Painted with loose, expressive watercolour washes and plenty of hand-drawn detail, the painting has a warm, slightly whimsical quality that I hope brings back memories of days spent beside the sea.
The little fishing boat, Isla, sits at the heart of the scene, tucked safely beneath the harbour wall, while the lighthouse and distant cottages give the painting its sense of place.

A colourful and characterful piece of coastal art, Isla's Harbour would bring a touch of the seaside into a living room, hallway, kitchen or holiday home — and makes a particularly lovely choice for anyone who has a soft spot for Britain's coastline.
