Endurance Oil

This oil painting was inspired by a moment I witnessed during a trip to London. It was an unusually hot day, and yet the mounted ceremonial guard and his horse stood in full uniform at their post, unwavering and composed. The young rider, dressed in traditional ceremonial armour with its bright red plume, impressed me with his calm endurance and sense of duty despite the heat. His horse, equally patient and dignified, became a striking presence in the archway’s shadow — a symbol of strength, loyalty, and quiet discipline. The contrast between the intense summer heat and the stillness of the ceremonial scene left a deep impression on me. Through textured brushwork I aimed to capture not only the appearance of the Horse Guards, but also the atmosphere of that moment: the weight of tradition, the resilience of youth, and the timeless bond between rider and horse.
