Caterpillar Girl Mixed Media

The expressionist painting is an explosion of colour in motion. Luminous yellows ripple across the orange-red surface, interspersed with flashes of flickering electric blue. The paint is applied thickly in some areas, creating impasto textures. The bold, sweeping brushstrokes dart and collide, giving the impression a dance. The title alludes to a line in the Cure's song 'Caterpillar Girl', and you might be able to see her in the top left of the painting: a hybrid - part girl, part caterpillar.
