Winter Tree Oil

This little scene is set somewhere in the hills of the UK. The painting is mainly about the bare-limbed winter tree that dominates the picture. The tree dwarfs the little barn, and is the only one to be seen throughout the hills.
I gave the piece an underpainting of orange as a complement to the green, and allowed small pieces of the orange to show in the painting. This gives a slightly warmer feel to the bleakness of the scene.
I have also painted the edges of the canvas in orange so it can be hung on the wall as it is, or put into a frame.
