Bruce is evasive and ambiguous, a portrait painted in lilac, burning orange, and deep red. Sweeping brushwork alternates with layered, compact passages, creating a restless rhythm across the surface. Overpainting adds shifting outlines, giving form without pinning it down. Impulsive marks scatter energy, as though Bruce is always half a step away from definition. And his piercing stare towards the viewer, and slight hint of a smile, remain uncompromising throughout.

The edges of the canvas remain raw, reinforcing process over finality. Bruce is elusive: a portrait of ambiguity, colour held in flux.
