Description

A nostalgic glimpse of Ipswich, Suffolk, between 1900 and 1907, capturing the character and atmosphere of the historic waterfront during an era when the quayside was alive with trade, shipping and industry.
A magnificent sailing vessel rests alongside the quay, towering above the waterfront buildings and reflecting Ipswich's long maritime heritage. Railway tracks run through the foreground towards the warehouses, while a traditional horse drawn cart and figures going about their daily work bring this historic scene to life.
The warm earthy tones of the brick buildings and cobbled quay contrast beautifully with the soft blue sky and hazy waterfront beyond. Ivy-covered architecture, weathered stonework and the delicate details of the ship's rigging add to the sense of age and character.
Painted in my loose and expressive watercolour style, this original artwork captures a fascinating moment in Ipswich's history, evoking the sights and atmosphere of the working waterfront at the beginning of the 20th century.

Thank you for viewing my painting.
