Description
Based on Folkestone Kent's iconic harbour. I visited the day after a storm, the sea was rough and the evening sky, dark. Looking down into the harbour I watched the stream of seawater rushing in knowing that within the hour the harbour would be full. It was spooky. I wanted to recreate the oncoming doom of the tide but still incorporating the monolithic bladderwrack covered harbour walls and their persistence against the sea. Look closely and the coastal lights of Cap Gris-nez, France are just visible on the horizon.
