Abstract Autumn Wood is a radiant, vibrantly coloured woodland inspired painting of the everchanging light through trees in a forest clearing. It is 36x24x1.5 inches. The vertical lines, painterly brushstrokes and thick paint and drips capture the dappled light and sunbeam beams you get in woodland where the colours vary continually with the season and time of day. I tried not to get too detailed with anything in this painting as I wanted to show my memory impressions of walking in an autumn wood which captures the mood and feeling of it rather than the botanical accuracies of it. The yellows, golds, greens and pinks contrast in interesting ways with the teal, light blues and purples and these also change continually as the sun moves around the room on this painting.
