Axelle BILTGEN
MartiguesArtistic background
As a professional painter, I develop a contemporary practice centered on the exploration of emotions, identity, and the dialogue between figuration and abstraction. My work explores the subtle tensions between chaos and harmony, presence and erasure, control and spontaneity. Through an expressive and contemporary approach to painting, I develop a visual language where color, gesture, and texture become the vectors of an emotional and sensory experience.
I work primarily with acrylics, enriched by mixed media such as ink, charcoal, and occasionally oil. My pieces are built through successive layers, revealing traces, erasures, and transparencies that fully contribute to the visual narrative. This intuitive approach feeds a constant search for balance between spontaneous energy and mastered composition.
My artistic universe unfolds around two main axes: contemporary female portraits and semi-abstract compositions inspired by nature and inner landscapes. The faces, often fragmented or partially suggested, question the notions of identity, memory, and transformation. The lines, interlacings, and graphic elements create spaces of dialogue between figuration and abstraction.
Through each artwork, I seek to create a space of inner resonance, inviting the viewer into a sensitive and personal experience. My intention is not to describe reality, but to reveal its emotional and symbolic dimensions.
