The background image is taken from one of a series of my Tilted Chaos Squares paintings. The inspiration for these being the futility of man. The futility of man that is, in his attempts to control, contain and ignore nature and natural chaos. The squares represent human civilisation - the four corners of the world, excuse the pun. ? As you can see the squares are beginning to tilt and topple under the strain from their chaos within! The lesson here is don’t interfere with or disrespect nature, or you invite and risk even more chaos, as we have seen recently worldwide with extremes of weather due to climate change!

After all - C’est pas la Terre qui est à nous, c’est nous qui sommes à la Terre!

So each square contains chaotic brushwork and lots of movement contrasting with the hard edges of the squares. Yet each square is slightly different from the next. Same colours in different quantities and the same types of brushwork but in different sizes and directions. So there is a unity and continuity. The tilting of the squares creates a tension and a movement throughout. These eye catching pieces in different colour schemes are visually original and new. Optical contemporary art!
