Artistic background

A one year foundation course at Brighton School of Art and three year fine art at Farnham School of Art. I started a print making course at City and Guilds, Kennington but not completed. Part time work and art was in the time left free. Life evolved - I went to Formenterra with my dyes, to tie dye T-shirts and later screen printing back in London, promotional and fun Tshirt images. Much later space in a friends’ basement allowed working on large screen printing (hand cut stencils) - “tablecloth pictures”. I use a variety of media in drawing and painting - oil, gouache, charcoal, chalks on canvas, paper, board.

Interests

Now - much older (70s) - light, form, perspective - immediate surroundings - people, city streets, parks, sky, river. All intrigue. I am lucky to have space for gardening. Volunteer at a local park, planting things, cleaning up - litter picking - which has upsides - early mornings in the park, a chance to chat to park gardeners and workers - the pad of runners, the passion of “schools” of cyclists racing in the distance.
