Artistic background

Art has always been part of my life. At Newcastle Art College in the 1980's, I refined my practice in watercolour, acrylics and ceramics. Today, I create botanical works and paintings of the natural world, from smaller studies to larger pieces, inspired by the changing beauty of native British plants, flowers and landscapes. I'm particularly interested in the dialogue between loose pattern and organic form, and how scale and framing can either hold a composition together or allow it to breathe.
